Hello Darling,

I am officially 14 weeks today and to celebrate I thought I would share my first trimester Q&A and give you a little pregnancy update.

It has been so fun to receive all of your questions regarding my pregnancy so far. To be honest, this is all SO new to me that I myself have had many questions as well. My goal throughout these next 6 months is to be as transparent and honest with you. I want to be able to learn together, and also gain any wisdom you might have when it comes to pregnancy and parenting.

First Trimester Q&A

Q: How happy are you?

A: We are ecstatic! I have dreamt of this season my whole life and it’s so surreal that it is here.

Q:What has been your most annoying pregnancy symptom?

A: Definitely the all day nausea and migraines.

Q:What are you looking most forward to in your pregnancy/birth?

A: Just the new season and settling in as a momma. I’ve truly dreamt of being a mom since I was a little girl.

Q:Were you on birth control before and if so, how long after you stopped did it take to get pregnant?

A: Yes, I was on birth control from the age of 13 up until last November 2018. We decided to stop taking it and let God do his thing. So it took about 8 months for us to get pregnant.

Q:What did you do to get pregnant? Did your thyroid disorder make it hard to get pregnant?

A: To be honest we did not do much. Because I had been told for years that it may be a hard process I wanted it to be as stress free as possible. I tracked everything for a few months but as soon as I started feeling stressed about it I stopped. For me the healthiest thing was to let go and let God. I definitely kept on top of my blood work making sure my thyroid levels were okay, and kept taking my thyroid meds. During this time I also made sure to live the healthiest lifestyle I could. This included working out daily, and eating a mostly AIP diet ( learn more about that here). After talking to my doctor these were very important things for me to do to get my body ready. Everyone is different though so the best thing is to discuss steps with your doctor.

Q:Have you had a lot of anxiety during pregnancy so far?

A: So far I have not had too much anxiety. I have struggled with slight depression but not super bad. These are very normal symptoms as you can imagine with all the hormone changes. I have made sure to convey all of these feelings to my doctor and recommend doing the same to anyone else.

Q:What are some prenatal vitamins or supplements you recommend for pregnancy?

A: As soon as we decided to start trying I began taking the Olly Prenatal Multivitamins and loved them! At my first doctors visit after we found out I was pregnant my doctor prescribed me over the counter prenatal so I switched to those.

Q:How did you keep yourself from worrying during pregnancy?

A: A LOT of prayer. There were definitely times I would sit and worry but I tried to not let my mind go there. I kept focusing on the things I could do to stay healthy. Which included sleep, eating, and praying.

Q: What did you take/ do for your nausea during the first trimester?

A: Since you can’t take much I really relied on regularly eating. That may sound funny but for me if I let myself get hungry I would get more nauseas. So always had a snack with me.

Q: Have you had any food aversions or cravings?

A: YES! I did not believe that food aversions or cravings were true but I am here to tell you today that they are a real thing! Everything healthy that I had been eating/loving before sounded awful. The things I have craved the most have been carbs. Potatoes in particular. Baked potatoes, french fries, mashed potatoes, you name it. It’s been so funny!

Q: What has your workout schedule looked like?

A: If you have been following me for awhile you know that working out and living a healthy lifestyle is super important to me. Before pregnancy I went to pilates at least 3x a week and cycling 2 to 3 times a week. That quickly changed when the nausea and fatigue hit at week 6. My routine has changed to pilates 1- 2 times a week with a 3o min walk every other day.

To be completely transparent this has been hard on me. I felt like I was not taking care of my body however, I needed to change my mindset. I am no longer working out to tone and stay at a certain weight but to simply move and feel good. This has been one of the most growing parts of pregnancy for me personally.

 Pregnancy Update

The first trimester was not super fun, if I am being honest. We found out we were pregnant around 5 weeks and the nausea stated week 6 all the way until just recently. I am definitely still struggling with nausea and migraines but they have gotten much better.

The past few months have been filled with a lots of time in bed. Getting up has been super hard, and naps are a must. My energy has been little to none which has been a little frustrating as I am someone who likes to go all the time. However, it has been a sweet season for me to grow and listen to my body. Slowing things down has not been easy but I can say without a doubt God is teaching me so much!

The biggest piece of advice I could give to someone in their first trimester is that you’ve got this! Settle into this new season the Lord has you in and take it one day at a time. Don’t be too hard on yourself and listen to your body. If you are craving those potatoes eat them, if you are too tired to make it to your regular workout go nap instead. Your body is telling you these things for a reason and it’s important to be in tune with it.

I can’t wait to continue to share this new season with you. If you have any questions, or maybe suggestions/advice please let me know in the comments below. Bring on trimester 2! 🙂

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
