How To Throw A Fabulous Cocktail Party

Hello Darling,

This past weekend we celebrated my 31st birthday by throwing a fun cocktail party. This is something I have been dreaming up for the past few months and to finally see it come to life was just the best thing. My host-loving heart had such a blast planning it. Hosting a cocktail party at your house does not have to be overly complicated. So I thought it would be fun to put together a comprehensive list of ideas and tips on how to throw a fabulous cocktail party.

PINTEREST BOARD THEME

First things first, lets decide what kind of theme/vibe you are going for. Putting together a Pinterest board full of ideas will help you brain storm and keep the esthetic going throughout the entire brainstorming process. Check out my Pinterest board HERE.

CREATE INVITATION

Canva is the way to go when creating invitations. They have several templets already made that you can edit with your own details or you can start from scratch. After creating the invitations, you can save and have the invitations printed and sent to you directly through the Canva app. The process is seamless and very affordable.

GUEST LIST

Now it’s time to make a list of those you would like to invite. Keep in mind the vibe you are going for as too many or too less will impact this vision.

DRINKS

Drinks are essential for a cocktail party- hence the name. 😉 You have a few options. Hire a bartending service or you can opt for a more budget friendly option and batch make your cocktails like we did.

BATCH MAKING COCKTAILS

We first decided on the type of drinks we would like to serve:

-Tays Dirty Gin Martini

-Espresso Martinis

-Bubbles

-Hunts whiskey selection

The bubbles and whiskey selection were pretty straight forward and easy to serve as our guests could seamlessly  choose one and pour into provided glass. With the martinis though we had to find a simple way to batch make them for easy and efficient serving options.

I found these two articles super helpful and easy:

Both turned out perfect!

If you do not own enough glassware ask a friend to borrow some theirs or you can usually find a local vendor to rent them from for a very affordable  price.

FOOD

We opted to go with a grazing charcuterie board table and it turned out perfect!

The little details are what bring me joy. Here are a few ideas we found to be affordable and easy:

-Balloons from Party City. Balloon orders of $59 are delivered for FREE making it so much easier for set up purposes.

-Design your own signs from Canva. Another Canva win, you can go into the app and design poster boards in several different sizes and have them delivered to your front door or have them printed at Staples to avoid shipping costs. I added both to foam cardboard and placed them on easels.
