Second Pregnancy & First Trimester Update

Second Pregnancy & First Trimester Update

Hello Darling!

Most of you by now know that we are expecting our second baby girl in July, but if not SURPRISE! 😉 We could not be more thrilled to welcome this sweet girl into the world. The past 4 months have been such a blur and I feel as if I have so much to fill you in on. So let me share a little bit of a pregnancy & first trimester update.

Pregnancy & First Trimester Update

Let’s start with the first question everyone has had:

When & how we found out we were pregnant.

Second Pregnancy & First Trimester Update

Around October of this past year, we decided that after Hunters 30th birthday trip in November we were ready to actively start trying again. Now, I have to point out that after Isla Grace I decided it was best for me and my body not to get back on birth control again so we had not necessarily been preventing another pregnancy but we were being as cautious as we could be.

Fast forward to the week before Hunters birthday trip we were sitting at dinner sipping on margaritas when I suddenly got a strange feeling I should take a pregnancy test. I had been a little tired that week but I’m also a busy toddler mom so this is normal. So I really had no other reason to believe I was pregnant other than a gut feeling.

We then headed home from dinner, and picked up a pregnancy test.  As I left the test in the bathroom to go about cleaning up toys and getting Isla ready for bed I thought to myself, there is no way. 5 min later to my surprise I was greeted with the words PREGNANT. In complete and utter shock I walked over to Hunter with big eyes, laughing and shaking my head yes. We were both so happy and also laughing at the timing since we would be leaving for Vegas in just a few days. Non the less we were thrilled.

First Doctors Appointment

Our first doctors appointment was a few days after arriving back home from Hunters birthday trip in November. We went in with extremely nervous but excited hearts. As we began the ultrasound we saw everything but a little baby growing. As our Doctor began to speak my heart just sank. At this point we knew it was early but we were anticipating and praying to see a little one growing. We were then told that it would be a 50% chance of a viable pregnancy and that we would need to come back the following week to see if anything had changed.

These were truly some of the hardest and longest days of our lives. We spent so much time praying. Praying for Gods peace and His will no matter the outcome. Selfishly I found myself so hesitate to pray this prayer because all I wanted was for this baby to grow. I felt confused, alone, and exhausted. On top of this, all three of us caught the WORST stomach bug of our lives. It was a hard week to say the least.

We were so blessed though that at our next appointment we saw a little embryo growing! Turns out I was just earlier on in my pregnancy than I originally thought and needed some time for the little pint sized growing baby to make it’s appearance on screen.

Morning Sickness

My morning sickness kicked in around 6 weeks and was the exact same experience I had with Isla Grace. Extreme nausea all day every day, except this time I was chasing a toddler around. I think that has been the biggest difference with this pregnancy. Would not have it any other way though and I am so thankful for friends and our families help when we needed them.

I was sick pretty constantly up until around 13 or 14 weeks. Since then I have been SO much better.

Cravings

Cravings during my first trimester consisted of a lot of blueberries and blackberries. So funny because I ate a carton of blueberries with Isla and this pregnancy has been the same way.

Finding Out The Gender

This time around we decided to not do a gender reveal and just find out together as a family then tell our friends/ family in a cute way. We actually were able to do early testing with an at home kit that my sister In-Law recommend. It was super easy and very accurate. We of course confirmed it with our Dr once I was further along but it was fun to find out so early.

If you are looking to do an early at home test we used Sneak Peak and could not recommend it more!

ITS’A GIRL!

Second Pregnancy & First Trimester Update

We are so excited to have another little girl! For some reason I was thinking it would be a boy but Hunter knew the entire time it would be another girl. He is so excited to officially be a girl dad. 🙂

First trimester was filled with lots of rest and grace. It was a busy time since we were celebrating the holidays but I had to remind myself every day that it was okay to rest, it was okay to have to say no to things and to give grace upon grace to myself. The days felt long but I already can’t believe that we are now half way through my pregnancy.

If you are a mama in your first trimester just know my heart goes out to you- you’ve got this! It’s not always the easiest but oh my goodness those sweet babies are SO worth it!

Now we are spending our time prepping for baby, trying to narrow down a name and still resting as much as Isla Grace will allow me. 😉 She has truly been so great though this all and I can’t wait to watch her be a big sister.

I will be sharing more updates as the weeks go on. So many fun things are in store!

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
