Weekend Getaway In Fredericksburg ,TX

Hello Darling!

This past weekend we surprised my sister to celebrate her birthday with a weekend getaway in Fredericksburg, TX. Growing up in the Hill Country, Fredericksburg is not a new place to me. However, over the past 10 years this small town full of German food and wineries has grown into something extraordinary! With 50 + wineries & vineyards Fredericksburg now holds the number 2 spot for wine in the United States. It truly is such a magical place. I’m excited to share the details of our weekend getaway for those that may be interested in visiting soon.

Where we stayed: Airbnb

This adorable Airbnb was perfect getaway for our family. Only a short 10 minute walk away from Main Street tucked away in a cute neighborhood. We had 4 couples on this trip and it was the perfect size. Our favorite part of the house was by far the backyard and detached garage turned game room. We had such a blast in this space!

Friday

After surprising my sister, we checked in the Airbnb and got settled in. We then got ready and headed toward E Austin Street to dine at Otto’s German Bistro. This sweet restaurant offering fine German fare was the perfect setting for a nice dinner to kick off our celebratory weekend. From the martinis to the Duck it was delicious!

We then headed back to the house that evening to play games and rest up for a Saturday full of wine tasting.

Saturday

Saturday morning we got up, enjoyed the beautiful back patio and got ready for a fun day of wine tasting. There are so many options when it comes to tours and transportation to take when wine tasting in Fredericksburg. This trip we opted for a personalized private tour with 290 Wine Shuttle. They picked us up at our house, toured us around to the three wineries we chose then dropped us back off at the end of the tour. It was a great experience! If you are interested in booking with them, ask for Duke. He was super insightful on the history or Fredericksburg and sweet as can be.

First Stop: Signor Vineyards

There are not enough words to express the experience at Signor. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful Winery in Fredericksburg. Setting foot onto the property you feel as if you are transported to Italy. From the flowers, to the growing vine walls and oh the Gelato. Oro Bianco Italian Creamery recently started setting up their Gelato cart on the weekends and it truly is AMAZING! One of our best friends who was with us said it was better than the Gelato she ate in Italy. You can check out their story here.

For the wine tasting we sat at one of their beautiful tables under the sprawling oak trees. The wine was delicious and it was the perfect start to the day

Second Stop: William & Chris Vineyards

Our second stop at William & Chris was wonderful. The tasting takes place inside their tasting room where you stand and are guided through their top wines by a sommelier. This was such an insightful visit and we loved the wines!

After the tasting we walked around the grounds, listened to live music and took some obligatory photos.

Third Stop: Barons Creek Vineyards

Our last wine tasting of the day we enjoyed a nice sun shower sitting underneath their covered patio while tasting some of their top wines.  We did pack lunches but after all the wine drinking we were very hungry. So we ordered a cheese board to enjoy and it was just what we needed. Note- our favorite wine we tried here was HIPPO.

The grounds of Barons are beautiful and a fun fact, you can actually rent out rooms and stay at their beautiful vineyard.

After all the wine tasting, we were not ready to go home quite yet so we had Duke head toward Main Street to Hondos. Hondos is a Fredericksburg staple. From the live music, food and drinks it’s must stop while visiting. Our house was just a short 10 minute walk away so as soon as we were done we walked on back to get cleaned up and enjoy the rest of the night at the house.

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning we slept in, cleaned up the house and all headed our separate ways. Hunter and I decided to stop for a quick lunch at Tubbys before headed home. Located right night to Otto’s this Ice House is the perfect spot for lunch with family. Their burgers were great and don’t forever the loaded fries!

After this we walked across the street to the Pacific War Museum. Another Fredericksburg  staple that is very interesting and insightful to stop and see while visiting. We loved the outdoor area were you could walk through and see photos of thousands of Veterans who served in the Pacific War. Very humbling!

There is truly so much to do in this amazing small town and it’s a spot I would recommend anyone visiting. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a bachelorette party spot, or even a weekend away with the kids there is something for everyone in Fredericksburg. We can’t wait to go back soon!

YOU ARE SO LOVED!
