Our Romantic Getaway In San Antonio

Hello Darling!

A few weekends ago, Hunter and I headed out for our first getaway since becoming parents. We wanted to stay within a few hours of Houston and decided on a romantic getaway in San Antono. It was such a wonderful trip and I am so excited to recap this trip and share where we stayed and all that we did.

Where We Stayed

Westin, Riverwalk San Antonio

This was our first time staying at the Westin and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! From the stunning decor, beautiful rooms, and of course the prime location we could not have asked for a better spot to stay.

Our favorite part about the Westin was absolutely our room with the balcony facing the riverwalk. From enjoying breakfast on the patio to sipping wine under the lights it made our romantic weekend even more special.

The hotel itself did a phenomenal job when it came to COVID precautions. The rooms we presterilized and spotless. At the time of our stay they did not offer room service or maid service. However they had more than enough towels and supplies in our rooms. You can read all about the properties “commitment to clean” program here.

Things That We Did

Friday:

Dinner at Southerleigh–

One of our all time fave places to eat in SA. Southern food meets fine dining & brewing – it is perfection!

Drinks at Sternewirth Tavern–

The BEST drinks around in such a romantic setting! Try the espresso martini you won’t regret it!

Saturday:

Breakfast on our patio-

We enjoyed some grab and go breakfast snacks from the Westin’s Cafecito.

Morning at the McNay Art Museum–

We had such an amazing time at the McNay. Tucked away in the beautiful McNay estate & home this art museum is the perfect spot to visit while in San Antonio.

Snacks at Honchos House of Churros–

Right down the street from the McNay is a great spot for a San Antonio specialty- churros! Grab a coffee & churro for the yummiest snack or dessert.

Lunch at La Gloria –

A must when visiting SA. Tex Mex meets authentic Mexican food- I can’t even begin to tell you how good it is! Our go to location to visit is at the Pearl located right along the River. When you visit make sure to grab Queso Fundido & an El Millonario Margarita.

Naps by the Westin Rooftop Pool–

After a busy morning and afternoon we were ready for some down town. With COVID they are currently requiring reservations to use the pool. We specifically set our time right when we knew we would need a good nap. It was a beautiful spot to enjoy the downtown views and amazing Texas fall weather.

Happy Hour at Ocho–

Located right down the street from the Westin Riverwalk this was such a fun spot to stop in and enjoy a quick cocktail on the river before dinner.

Dinner at Zocca Cuisine D’Italia–

We so enjoyed dinner at the Westin’s onsite restaurant- Zocca. Located right along the river we indulged in some amazing wine, and Italian food underneath the beautiful lights. I recommend asking for a table outside, you just cannot beat the stunning ambiance.

Sunday:

Morning at the Botanical Gardens–

After checking out of the Westin, we headed to enjoy the Botanical Gardens for the morning. It was such a beautiful way to end the trip. Taking in all stunning gardens, and enjoy the sunny weather. We loved it & plan to take baby girl back with us during our next trip to San Antonio.

Brunch at Jardins–

The Botanical Gardens onsite restaurant and newest culinary jewel in San Antonio – this was such a treat! Tucked away in an old carriage house we enjoyed the best brunch and Sunday cocktails. If you are looking for a great brunch to enjoy in SA we cannot recommend this enough!

San Antonio has a special place in my heart as it is actually where I grew up. Since I no longer have family living in SA, it has become a rare occasion that we get the opportunity to visit. This trip was beyond special for us and we enjoyed ourselves immensely! We can’t wait for our next trip to the Westin Riverwalk.
