8 Fun Ways To Keep In Touch With Long Distance Friends

Hello Darling!

As we grow older life changes constantly. It’s inevitable, job changes happen, new relationships form, and friends move. A thing we can always count on though are those special friendships to stay no matter how life changes. Though the distance and dynamic might change a bit, those friendships will last a lifetime. One of my sweetest friends Kailey ( DoubleShotOfSass ) which many of you know, moved to Dallas this week. It is such an exciting move for her since she and her boyfriend have been long distance throughout their entire relationship. Needless to say, it was time for her to make the move! Though I will miss her so much, I could not more excited for this next season in her life. With this it got me thinking about ways to keep in touch with long distance friends. So today, I am sharing 8 fun ways to do just that.

8 Fun Ways To Keep In Touch With Long Distance Friends

Set A Weekly Phone Date

A phone call may sound simple and easy but with the business of life making that random phone call can sometimes be hard. So a fun way to make sure to spend some time chatting on the phone with your bestie is to set a weekly or even a bi-weekly phone date. A time that you know not to schedule anything during and to look forward to each week.

Keep An Ongoing Text

This is a great way to stay in touch with the everyday things of life. Keeping an ongoing text allows you to share what’s going on in your day and to feel apart of each others lives the way you did when you lived in the same city. I’m not going to lie, I am an awful texter and it is something I am working on being better about daily. Any friend or family reading this is probably shaking their head yes and laughing . I know I am so bad!  I promise y’all I will be better. 😉

Chat Over Social Media

A great thing about social media is that it is an awesome tool to stay in touch with friends. Whether that is tagging them in a funny posts, sending them a photo of something they might like, chatting about a article you read online, sharing a new blogger you love, and the list goes on.

Send A Photo Or Text When You’re Thinking Of Them

During the the day when your friend pops into your mind, or if you see something or go somewhere that reminds you of them send them a message or photo and let them know. It is always the best hearing that someone is thinking or praying for you.

Send Them Something In The Mail

I know, we are going old school here 😉 , but sending something in the mail to your friend is such a fun way to stay connected. I don’t know about you but when I receive mail it just fills my heart with joy. There is something so sweet, and simple about it. A few fun things to send through the mail are: a letter catching them up on life or encouraging them, a care package full of their favorite things, or even creating a Greetabl with some of your favorite pictures together and a few fun goodies. You can check out my Valentines Greetabl I sent Kailey this past year here and also, you can use this code: TaylerMalott to receive 20% OFF your next Greetabl.

Set Reminders To Check In With Them

Lets be honest, life is crazy! As we get older the longer our schedules and to do lists become. Sometimes with the business of life we can forget to call, text or send that special note to your friends. A great way to help with that is to set a reminder to check in with them. It not only a great reminder but keeps you accountable to be intentional with your friendships.

Plan Trips To See Each Other

Trips are the best so why not plan trips with your long distance bestie. Whether that is a trip to go see them in their city, planning for them to come visit you, or planning a fun vacation elsewhere to spend time together. Putting a trip on the calendar allows you to be intentional about making time to see each other no matter the distance.

Start Something New Together

Starting something new together is an awesome way to stay connected! A few things you can start new together are: a workout program, a Bible study, a new book, a new show, etc. This allows you to still do some of the things you would have done together while you were living close and it also creates a fun point of topic for you to chat about weekly.

Growing up I moved around almost every 2 years until I was in high school so I have spent my life keeping up with long distance friends. There is something so sweet about it and encouraging to know that those lifelong friendships will last no matter the distance.

I hope you enjoy these 8 fun ways to keep in touch with long distance friends and I encourage you to try one of these out this week. I would love to hear your experiences in the comments below.

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
