My Top Things To Do For Christmas In New York

Hello Darling!

Christmas in New York is true magic. You may not know this, but when I was younger we lived a few hours away from the city. During the holidays my family and  I would hop on the train and head to NYC for a day full of Christmas fun. Those memories we made growing up will hold such a dear place in my heart. Now as an adult, getting to go back during the holiday season is truly my favorite! A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of spending a week there with some of my best girlfriends and had such a blast! I received so many questions about what we did while there that I thought I would put together a full post of my top things to do for Christmas in New York.

Tea At The Plaza

This is such an amazing and magical experience. Just stepping into the Plaza itself during the holidays will make your heart soar. Tea is such an amazing experience. From the holiday champagne tea, to their adorable Eloise tea for the little ones I definitely recommend! Tip- reservations are a must and book well in advance.

 Central Park In The Snow

There is nothing like walking around Central Park, especially in the snow. I recommend entering in near 5th Avenue and grabbing a hot chocoalte or mulled wine first from the Plaza food court. On their lowest level you will find the most spectacular food court to grab hot drink before venturing through the snowy park. Tip- If you do not want to walk I recommend grabbing a  pedicab. They are quite pricey but super fun and you will learn lots of fun facts about the park and city itself from your driver.

Lunch or Dinner At Tavern On The Green

Located within Central Park, this restaurant is not only delicious but absolutely beautiful! They even have a gorgeous tree out front and right after Thanksgiving have their own special tree lighting with music and all.

If you are visiting during the holidays I recommend grabbing tickets! You will love it! Tip- This show is for all ages but be sure to grab tickets ahead of time!

A stop into Bergdorf Goodman is a MUST! Head on up to their top floor to see their beautiful Christmas department. Also, I recommend stopping in for some lunch at the Bergdorf Café or simply a glass of champagne. Tip- Reservations are also very important here! I recommend requesting a table by the windows to get a view of 5th & Central Park. Oh & order the Lobster Mac and Cheese, you will thank me later. 😉

Serendipity 3 For Frozen Hot Chocolate

The famous Serendipity 3 is such a fun place to stop while in NYC! Whether if you are looking to grab some dinner or just some dessert I definitely recommend adding this to the list! The decorations are so fun and the frozen hot chocolate is something you will remember forever!

Window Shopping

Upper East Side

This is one of my favorite areas in NYC. The beautiful shops always out do themselves when it comes to holiday decor. Tip- definitely check out the beautiful Ralph Lauren Store and stop into Ralphs for a cup of coffee.

5th Avenue

There is nothing more iconic than shopping on 5th Avenue in NYC. These shops do not disappoint when it comes to holiday window displays. From Saks, to Bergdorf, Cartier, and The Plaza Hotel you can always find such beautiful decor on this street.

Special Holiday Date Night

NYC has no shortage of incredible food and places to dine at. Two of my favorites that would make the perfect special holiday date night are Scalinatella, and Gramercy Tavern.

Scalinatella

is a very special spot for me. Years ago my best friend Tori and I discovered it and make sure to go back every time that one of us is in town. Located on the Upper East side in what seems like an old cellar, you walk in to a tiny space filled with the most charming Italian staff cooking, yelling and welcoming you in. It’s dimly lit which brings a romantic touch. The Italian food is divine, the wine list is spectacular, and you will leave full and very happy! Tip- take your time while you are here. Enjoy each course as it comes and take it the whole experience.

Gramercy Tavern

is a new favorite spot but oh so good! This past trip I received the recommendation from my Brother In Law and his family to check it out for dinner. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. A very romantic and holiday filled space that is both warm and inviting. Their prefixed menu is truly spectacular and everything is DELICIOUS! Tip- This is also a spot to take your time and enjoy each course. It can be a bit pricey but trust me, SO WORTH IT!

I could continue to go on and on about Christmas spots in the city but these are just a few of my favorites. If you are looking for more spots to check out definitely head over to one of my favorite NYC based bloggers, Krista Robertsons two blog posts here & here. She has broken it down so well and definitely has inspired me to add a few of these spots for future holiday trips to the city.

Whether if you are headed to NYC this holiday season or if you are planning to go in the future I hope this post helps you plan the best Christmas vacation!

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
