Long Distance Relationship

Happy Friday Loves! So today I would like to introduce you to one of the most important people in my life. My boyfriend Hunter. I have mentioned him before but I thought I would share a little bit more about him.

We met four years ago at DBU. I was a Freshman and he was a Sophomore basketball player. I can remember the first time I met him, I was actually at his house hanging out with some of my friends and his roommates. I was walking through the kitchen when we accidentally bumped into each other. I looked up and my stomach dropped — he was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAN I HAD EVER SEEN (and still is– sorry for being mushy 🙂 ).  I called my mom right after that and said, “mom I have met my husband!” Of course at that point I was just joking around.  I never thought that he would ever pay attention to me though. It wasn’t until my sophomore year that he sent me a Facebook message asking me if he could take me to church with him that Sunday and cook lunch for me afterwards (swoon). I’m serious, that was our first date. From that point on I knew he was different and someone I could truly see myself with.

(August 2014-Second year of dating)

Fast forward 3 years now, we have graduated college- me with my bachelors and Hunt with his bachelors as well as his masters. He currently is living and  working in Houston and I am in San Antonio. I have had a lot of people ask me lately how long distance has been and my response has been honestly not that bad. Everyone is usually shocked by this answer but I will tell you why. For Hunt and I it’s been a no brainer– we love each other and we choose to make it work. Now I’m not saying that it has been super easy, there have been some hard times. I miss him constantly but from very early on in our relationship we made the decision to choose to wake up everyday and love each other. Love truly is a choice. I would say that choice and the choice to make sure to communicate to each other are two HUGE reasons why long distance has not been too bad. We know this is temporary and just another season in our relationship. We have discovered that distance truly makes the heart grow fonder.

So if there was anything that I could say to those who are looking for long distance relationship or just relationship advice in general it is to choose to wake up everyday and love each other and communicate to each other. Hunt and I are still learning and our relationship is FAR from perfect but with these two choices as well as allowing God to lead us, I wakeup everyday excited to grow closer to him and that is the best feeling in the world.

Well I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Feel free to leave suggestions or any questions you have for me in the comments below.

You are loved!

XOXO, Tay

All so true. I can tell you from experience that some days it will be a more conscious choice than others, but it’s so worth it. Making the relationship continue to work takes constant effort and choosing to to do so each day. So nicely put, and you guys are super cute.
