Our Dating Story

Hello Darling!

A few weeks ago I shared Hunter and I’s engagement story, but I have gotten several requests to share how we met and our dating story. So I thought today was the perfect time to share with you!

Hunter and I’s story began five years ago in August of 2011. We met while in College at Dallas Baptist University. I was a music student and Hunter was a business student and basketball player.

It was the first week of my Freshman year and Hunter’s Sophomore year. I was invited to hang out with some friends at a town home down the hill. I did not know this yet, but this happened to be where Hunter lived at the time. As I was hanging out with some friends I walked into the kitchen and accidentally bumped into Hunter. I  looked up and my stomach dropped.  He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen- sorry to be a bit mushy 😉 . Hunter quickly went back to his room and I went back to hanging out with friends. As soon as I got back to my dorm I called my mom and jokingly said, “mom, I just met my husband. ” Little did I know I was exactly right.

A few months went by and Hunter and I would see each other on campus every so often but nothing was ever said. One day in March of 2012 Hunter was at the pool with a friend when I walked in. Hunter said, there was something about me that caught his attention that day. I make fun of him for that- of course I caught his attention at the pool. Such a boy!  Hunters roommate told me that he thought we would be perfect for each other, but to be honest I just laughed because I never thought he would notice me.

August of 2012, I was starting my Sophomore year and Hunter his Junior year. It was the first week of school and I was invited by some friends to go to a Cowboys football watching party on campus. Hunter was invited to this party as well. Little did the two of us know that our friends had set this up on purpose so that we could meet. As I walked into the party everyone began to smile at me. I had no idea what was going on until I saw that they had saved a seat right next to Hunter for me. As I sat down next to him, he nervously said hello. Our friends began to make small talk around us until Hunter asked me some questions  about the football game. I had no idea was going on with the game because I was so nervous but I decided to  play along. After this Hunter invited me and a few friends to come over to his place a study. As we began to talk on the way down to Hunter’s house he asked me what my favorite food was. If you know Hunter you know how important this questions is to him- food is a serious thing in his life.  Of course I told him Mexican food. Hunter began to talk about the taco dinner he could cook for me sometime and said I should come over again soon.

A week went by and I did not hear anything from him . And of course in true Tayler manner, I decided to take matters into my own hands and send Hunter a Facebook message. Hunter finally replied and invited me to come to church with him on Sunday and asked if he could make lunch for us after. Sunday September 16th, 2012 we went on our first date. After this day  we knew there was something so special about our relationship and our love for each other began to grow.

Fast forward four years later, Hunter and I  had both graduated from DBU. I was living and working in Dallas and Hunter was living and working in Houston. After a year and half of being long distance we both knew we were ready to start the next chapter of our lives and finally live in the same city again.

On August 20th, 2016 Hunter came into town to celebrate my sisters birthday. Or at least that’s what I thought he was doing.  He  took me to Lee Park where we had gone on several walks before. As we walked up to Arlington Hall Hunter got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Hunter and I’s relationship has been far from perfect, but I believe he is the one whom my soul loves. He is my best friend, and we are SO excited to start our lives together as man and wife. Oh my goodness, that is crazy to say!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share this journey with you and really share our lives with you. It means more than Hunter and I can say. Even though we may not personally know you, we still consider you family. If you have any questions for us, we would love to hear them in the comments below.

“And the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. ” Mark 10:8-9

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
