Hello Darling,

The I DO Style Series has been so fun to share with you. It has created a way for me to take you with me throughout each step of the wedding planning process. Up until this point, we have talked about wedding planners, wedding guest attire, wedding shoes and so much more. Today, I would like to talk about a struggle that most brides and grooms have and dive a little deeper.

Planning a wedding is such a whirl wind! It comes with so many emotions, good and bad. Each decision for a bride and even to a groom can seem a make a break point to throwing the best party for your guests. Thought this is true, it is important to remember why you are throwing this spectacular shindig.

IT’S ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU!

The celebration of lives coming together under God, as one. You are marrying your best friend! You are about to spend the rest of your life with the one your soul loves. That just blows my mind! Now, you may be saying right now,”I know this Tayler.” But, in the midst of these crazy times this profound and most important fact can easily be forgotten. I say this because Hunter and I struggle with this and have to be reminded of this all the time. Just last night we sat down to chat about what we needed to get done and we finally had to step back, look at each other and say you are what is most important.

CHERISH THESE MOMENTS

Because, even though it may seem as if time is standing still and you will never get to that wedding day, you will and you will want to remember these times. Though the planning is not the most important part, it is however a time to grow and learn together. Each moment you spend together is apart of your story. Each stressful, exciting, hard, and joyful time is an opportunity for the two of you to be formed and molded into an even stronger couple. Though I am not married yet, I have heard so many people say, marriage is not always easy. And just like the planning process there will be good and bad times. This planning process though, can be a time to learn how to handle each of those moments together. Remember, you are a team! You are for each other and will be together through all that life brings your way.

There are a few ways that Hunter and I have found to help remember these two things.

  • Make wedding free time together – I know this can be hard but set a time each week to spend together where you do not talk about any planning aspects. Just be together, and talk about any other than the wedding.
  • Make wedding free time alone – For your sanity it is important to take some time for yourself. This is not something I do well because let’s be honest, my super extroverted self hates to be alone in the first place. I found that it’s very important though. So wether you go for a run, go get your nails done, go shopping; just remember to make time for yourself.
  • Journal – a great way to cherish and remember each step of the way is to journal about it. Journaling has always been something I cherished throughout my life. It helps me to not only gather my thoughts, and learn but to also remember each moment. So what better time to do this than during your planning process.
  • Pray, Pray, Pray – This is one of the biggest / defining moments of your life and it is so important to pray. Pray with each other, pray for each other, and pray about it all. You are celebrating this union that God ordained. So give it all to Him! Put it into his hands, because at the end of the day we truly have little control on what happens, but the my beautiful part is He has all of it!

Whether you are a bride or not I hope this helps you. Just like wedding planning, life can be fun, hard and everything in-between. It’s important to remember what it’s all about and keep your eyes focused on the truth. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to share these special moments with you. Thank you for letting me ramble on, but most importantly, thank you for letting me share my life with you! You are what makes TaylerMalott.com so special!

If you are a bride or have been a bride, what have been your biggest struggles throughout the planning process and what helps you remember the truth? I would love to hear all of your thoughts in the comments below.

YOU ARE SO LOVED!

XOXO,Tay
